"I saw Sandro Mabellini's fine production of 'Closer' at Teatrolitta, Milan in November 2012. Over the last 15 years I have seen my play performed many times all over the world. Mabellini's production is one of the best I have seen. It was original, different and hugely intelligent. The director stripped the production down to the bare bones; almost no set, actors in black costume, stark white light. It was very pure, completely clear. He directed his actors with great precision and simplicity. They knew exactly what to do but seemed to be free to be spontaneous. I hope to see more of his work and I hope he will continue to direct mine."
